Application Process

What I need to know to apply in 2023!

Applications are accepted through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), through ERAS only. Please have your application ready to be viewed by our program on September 27, 2023. The application deadline is October 2nd. No paper/email applications will be accepted.

The following materials should be submitted through ERAS:

  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) letter
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty who know you well. (Preferably including a Clerkship Evaluative Letter from Internal Medicine or Pediatrics.) A Chair letter is not required.
  • Medical School Transcript
  • CV and Personal Statement
  • Passing status from the National Board of Medical Examiners (USMLE Step 1 or the COMLEX Level I)

Interviews are scheduled through ERAS/Thalamus. This year virtual-only interviews will be held on, October 18th, 19th,  & 31st, November 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th & 15th, December 5th, 6th, 12th, & 13th, January 9th, 10th, & 16th. Invitations for interviews will be sent on October 10, 2023.  If you do not receive an invitation that day, you will be automatically placed on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, rolling interview invitations will be extended through January 16th, 2024.
We invite only the number of applicants for which we have available interview slots.

Requirements for international medical graduates

  • One year of residency training in the US or Canadian medical system (applicants without this experience will be considered if letters of support can attest to the ability to work in the US hospital system)
  • Scores from the National Board of Medical Examiners (USMLE Step 1 and Step 2)
  • Graduation from medical school within the last 2 years (applicants out of med school more than 2 years prior to application may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Eligible for ECFMG certification
  • Only J1 visas are sponsored by our hospital
