Point of Care Ultrasound Curriculum
The goal of our integrated Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum is to teach our combined Internal Medicine-Pediatric residents the clinical skills and knowledge to incorporate ultrasound imaging confidently and competently as part of routine evaluation of adult and pediatric patients in diverse clinical settings. Specifically, this curriculum allows residents to develop skills in image acquisition and interpretation of images related to Cardiac, Thoracic, eFAST, and IVC exams. Residents will also gain confidence in ultrasound-guided procedural applications including central lines, paracentesis, and thoracentesis. Interactive didactics are held at least quarterly throughout the course each academic year during our Monday Med-Peds Noon Conference, Friday Academic Afternoons, as well as during Pre-Clinic Conferences.
